Great!
Phil is the best!
My questions for Phil:
- Phil, have you ever visited Croatia? When? If not, do you plan to do it soon?
- What are the great things young player can experience if he gets qualified for Aruba event? Do pro players spend some time with the rest of the qualifiers, having fun, going to party etc.
- Do you enjoy more playing Poker After Dark, WSOP or Aruba?
I wish you and your family Merry Christmas and all the best in the upcoming year.
p.s. is it possible to get in contact with you? (UB staff have my e-mail so please reply if possible)
Greetings

Hi Phil! I have a question about pot odds, fold equity, and big stack play.
For example: say you have above avg. stack, final few tables with the blinds 2,4k., and fairly tight table.
You are in position to make a raise from the button,no callers behind you, with the SB and BB slightly less than you. Say your holding something like A,10,or less, or maybe K,Q, or even small PP. Because this situation looks like a ’steal’, do you ever have the mindset of ’sizing’ your raise in regards to the blinds stack, in case of a re-shove from your opponent so your getting around 2:1 on your money?
On the flip side, in a similar situation (except possibly a few seats away from the button)do you have the mindset leaving yourself some fold equity in case of a re-shove?
Im sure sure table dynamics and reads on opponents plays a huge part of this, but i just find my big stack play could use some improving, so maybe some helpful hints and some insight from the worlds greatest player could help!
Thanks guys.

Hello Phil,
I enjoy your style of play. My question is sort of in two parts but it relates to the same subject. How much of your table antics are a calculated strategy, all part of your master plan, and how much would you say is just an honest loss of temper and composure? The reason I ask is because I sometimes imply similar tactics to distract my opponents from the task at hand and perhaps get them paying too much attention to my body language and verbal abuse.
Cheers

Dear Phil Hellmuth,
Can you please teach me how to win a pot with the worst hand at showdown.

The public demands an explanation.
Can you also explain the meta-game benefits behind initially denying the pot got shipped to you when doubleballer asked you?

Dear UltimateBet,
I’m writing you this just to thank you for doing something that no other online poker site has managed to do: Create a gaming environment akin to playing live, where sometimes the dealer awards a pot to the player who didn’t have the best hand at showdown!! Kudos to you and your programmers, that is ingenious!! Everyone at the local card barn says they don’t like playing online because it feels too different from live, but I think that’ll change now when I tell them that there’s finally a site that recreates dealer ****-ups!!

I have a question about early tournament play. What do you do when aggressive people are raising pre flop with crap hands like 5/6 and pocket pairs? Then you try to play things like A/10 and they hit. Do you bluff them or just fold and wait?

Hi James,
Thanks for the question. The answer period for Phil has expired. BUT, the good news is he will be doing a Q&A again soon. Please check back each week to see when Phil is answering questions. In the meantime, many of our other Poker Pros will be fielding questions on our blog. http://blog.ultimatebet.com/category/ask-a-pro/
Good luck on the tables!
