Hand #1162170993
Saturday, December 20, 2008 - COO
Earlier today we learned about a poker hand where our system paid out the losing player instead of the correct winning hand. The hand number is #1162170993.
We are investigating this software malfunction as our absolute top priority.
This is the first incident of this kind we have encountered.
We are currently examining the poker system and the application logs in order to pinpoint the cause of this malfunction.

shouldnt all play be stopped til we know the prob is fixed.

Not going to mention who was involved in the hand? Yes that’s right…our good buddy Phil Hellmuth. He’s so good, he drags pots he didn’t win.

Here’s another problem that cropped up today. I emailed support TWICE about it, but no response.
First hand – I limped as small blind. Pot was checked. Very next hand, I have about 700 fewer chips

Will the Kahnawake Gaming Commission be investigating this incident?
Has Ultimate Bet notified the KGC of this incident? If not, why not?
Didn’t UB just go through an extensive audit to ensure something like this would never happen again?
Awful lot of coincidences going on over there. The only two online poker sites to ever experience such massive cheating scandals just happen to wind up under the same ownership and merge into a single network. Now a “glitch” awards a pot incorrectly to a player who just happens to be Ultimate Bet’s chief spokesman and public face.
At this point, why should anyone trust Ultimate Bet to be safe, fair, or even competent?
December 20th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Everyone accusing Hellmuth of cheating is fucking stupid. Why would he cheat when he knows hundreds of railbirds are watching? Only reasonable explanation would be:
A:Software glitch.
B:Disgruntled ex-employee trying to show everyone UB is unsafe.
Whatever the reason is, I really doubt Hellmuth knew anything about it.

wtf
December 20th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
This sure is an empty response. Can you publish such a thing without disclosing that
1. Your top spokeman Phil Hellmuth was involved.
2. Hellmuth played the hand in a highly unusual manner.
3. Why you are keeping your site open during this time.
I will never play on your site
December 20th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
lets answer all of these questions:
who will be held responsible for this? no one
will people continue to play on the site? yes
are they going to close the site until this is fixed? no, because they love to make a killing on what little money they rake in.
will they notify all players that play of this incident? hell no, they got to cover this up just like how they did in the post. paid out the “losing player”.. they need to make it say paid out the “Phil Hellmuth”

Greetings
Could somebody please investigate the bots that are playing 10-20 to 100-200 on your site at all times? You can start with identical players Thors_Hammer and hansolo75 who play on your site daily.

I can’t believe you deleted my hand histories. **I** am the ONLY one whose privacty is involved. How DARE you censor my posting!
Unless I get an answer to my emails, I’ll have to think about withdrawing all my money.
Next stop: 2+2

Hi Mark,
I am sorry for removing the hand history. But it included the private information of other players as well as your own. Please remember that we cannot divulge information from other players.
Also, please expect to hear a response about this issue tomorrow I was just informed by Customer Service team.
December 20th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Can you explain why when i raised this issue via email to UB support after posting it on another forum which was approx 18 hours ago i have not recieved any acknowledgement or information about the issue i reported. For such a serious malfunction you think it would be taken a little more seriously and if support couldnt come up with a reply then it would of been handed to someone who could!

admin,
When I post MY hand history, I’m the only one whose “privacy” is at issue. Anyone at the table could have seen everything I showed EXCEPT my hole cards. How does that convey private information, other than mine of course.

Hi Mark,
I am sorry about this. I was just doing as CS asked me, while they were going to look into your issue.
December 21st, 2008 at 12:51 am
Too funny. Yes, i do believe UB have stumbled onto a fascinating new concept…. Keep fking them over and over, because they are too stupid to know the difference. Phil is certainly UB material, so i guess you guys are sitting pretty?
December 21st, 2008 at 8:29 am
Who else can legitimately say they have played a hand where they mucked their cards and still managed to drag the pot?
Maybe we should ask PotRipper!!!!!

Paul, kudos to you for blogging about this, giving people a direct line of communication to you about this and other issues.
Don’t let the haters/jump-to-conclusioners get you down. This one is so strange that the intelligent can only presume there was a strange matter of disconnect in play.

Admin,
You said “Also, please expect to hear a response about this issue tomorrow I was just informed by Customer Service team.”
Here’s what I got:
“Dear Mark,
Thanks for emailing us.
Your issue has been forwarded to our department in charge, they will review it and will contact you as soon as possible. At this moment we appreciate your patience.”
They didn’t even bother to verify the hand history.
December 21st, 2008 at 1:42 pm
Hi Mark,
My guess is the hand history IS what they have to verify, as that is what you are question.
December 21st, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Nice response admin, way to say nothing/something at the same time.
Just the fact that you guys respond so quickly just shows how guilty you know you really are.

Here are a couple more for you,not quite the same but still odd.I was playing the $2.20 horse,16 cash and made the bubble.Last hand I played I was pushed all in preflop, before last two cards hit the table I was congratulated for finishing 16th.Also played an entry tourney in the afternoon yesterday, one player at the table recieved an inordinately large number of pocket pairs,if you pushed all in against him no matter what he had he won and he also hit an inordinately large number of flops each time he went in.Since coming back to UB,have begun to notice a lot of funny things going on with certain players.Certain players at cash tables and certain players in tourneys that no matter what you get they beat you.I am very seriously considering taking my money out again and leaving.
December 21st, 2008 at 6:49 pm
FWIW, UB has refunded my entry in the form of TD$. I can live with that.
However, a poster on 2+2 indicated that he investigated and found that the total chip count at the final table was correct.
So now I have another question. If the final table chip count WAS correct, WHO GOT MY CHIPS????
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:30 am
wow. super-users. then your number one spokesman magically starts dragging in pot’s he shouldn’t?
oh, and this – this is the first time it ever happened? Yet it happens to “The” Phil Hellmuth Jr.? Not only that, I’m assuming you guys are still covered under the kahnawake gaming commission? LOL at you people. Thank god the software is so horrible, bugged and corrupt that I never deposited real money on this site.
“If There Was No Luck Involved, I’d Win Them All!!”
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:41 am
Well, obviously the guy with the best hand couldn’t spell poker so he doesn’t deserve the pot.
December 22nd, 2008 at 10:54 pm
It has now been more than 50 hours since my 700 tourney chips disappeared (or were shipped to another player).
How long must I wait for an explanation of this phenomenon?
December 23rd, 2008 at 12:26 am
Other reports of UB “glitches” are now surfacing at 2+2 and Casinomeister, and a company statement on this clearly snowballing issue would be appreciated.
December 24th, 2008 at 12:02 am
Thanks for the statement, Paul but what about the other reports of further glitches – have they been sorted out as well?
December 24th, 2008 at 2:36 am
Dear UltimateBet,
You give internet poker a bad name. Please shut down your site. Thank you and merry xmas.
