HELLO FROM WPT FIVE DIAMOND

Well if you haven’t seen me at the tables on UB it’s because I’m in Vegas
at the Bellagio for the wPT Five Diamond. I also have a charity tournament
next week ‘Jingle at the Hard Rock’ to raise money for Leukemia & Lymphoma
Society of Southern Nevada. “The event was inspired by the recent death of
poker community member Mindy Trinidad.” – so me and some other poker chicks
are looking forward to raising money and supporting that cause.
Back at the poker tables I played my first $2k prelim event and made it
halfway through the field… not that that is much of an accomplishment
however Bellagio is known for having tough fields. Plus I was happy because
I felt like I played a really good game today and that’s a very rewarding
feeling. Let’s first discuss how I flopped QUADS… AND GOT PAID! Man,
what an adrenaline rush. Of course all you poker players know how rare it
is to ever get quads but then to have someone PAY THEM OFF?!?! When Alex
Kostrisyn called my raise on the river I flipped over my cards and said
‘Merry Christmas’! Everyone laughed and Alex didn’t seem too upset that I
beat his AK two pair… if you don’t want an opponent to be upset when you
beat their top two just had quads, the awe of the hand makes them less
angry, hee hee. Speaking of Alex (if you don’t know him he won Aussie
Millions back in January then cashed six times at the WSOP this year and
made one final table) I had a really enjoyable day at the table with him. We had some
friendly banter and battled it out in several hands but ultimately showed a
lot of respect for each other. I’m not surprised at all his poker success
because he is a VERY solid player and completely unpredictable but he always
seems strong so he’d rake pot after pot after pot. Nothing else terribly
exciting to report from the tourney front. The other notable at my table
was Rene Angelil (Celine Dion’s husband) who I know a little bit from
previous blackjack tournaments and interviews. Another very solid player
who gets a ton of respect at the table. I don’t know when he best you just
always believe that he has a hand and wouldn’t dare attempt a bluff because
he’s so calm, patient and regal.
Well I have to run… tonight Antonio Esfandiari is having a birthday bash
at Tao Nightclub at The Venetian but I’m gonna be a good girl and get to bed
early since tomorrow is a $3k event.
