Moving forward…

Thursday, September 10, 2009 - Liv Boeree

Now I’m back in London I’m having kind of a crappy week dealing with the mundane and the not so mundane, including some rather large life changes such as house moves and figuring out where I want to live for the foreseeable future. I am finding myself increasingly drawn to the “Land of the free” as you people call it, and could well be heading out west yonder (back to the country speak too).  I’m not sure when, or even to which city (most like LA or Vegas) but I reckon by the end of the year for sure, so it’s exciting times!

The next thing I’m really excited about is the English Poker Open that I’m playing in next week – Phil Hellmuth and Doyle Brunson are also coming over to play the event, which is a $5k buy in with $1m guarantee, and it’ll be by far the biggest tourney I’ve ever played on my home turf so it seems only right that I should win it, don’t you think? Til then I’m gonna be playing online on UB – I’ve rediscovered my love for cash again over the past few weeks, having not played much at all for nearly a year. It’s too easy to get swept up in the glory and gratification that tourneys dangle infront of your face each time you enter one and had forgotten the joys of good, deep-stack grindery. Even just playing a few hours a week has helped re-vamp my game immensely over the past month and has truly blown away the cobwebs of stuck-in-a-rut post-WSOP poker blues!

Cool Blog Liv, as someone once sang (don’t ask me who though!) I’m loving it, loving it, loving it. I’m loving it like that! Anyway it was good to hear that you came through the Macau gruel affair relatively unscathed, I was getting worried about your well being, I truly was! I hope that your appetite for food has been restored by your parents home cooking? People knock English food, but give me a full breakfast or a Sunday roast anytime over some of the grub that is on offer from around the world. If food equated to card rankings, I would have the Full English Breakfast as a 4 of a kind, and the Roast as a Royal Flush. All things Macau would surely be 2, 7 off-suit!!!!
Liv, good luck in the English Open, I’ve got a feeling this is going to be your tournament, I would love to see you get to the final table and I think it could happen. I’ll be praying you get a filth free run of cards, and our precious sterling is saved from overseas marauders!

PS. Liv have you taken delivery of your Schecter guitar yet? I love to weald my axe from time to time because when you’re a kid of 13 and Guns N Roses are the biggest band in the world (which surely they were back in 91, well they were to me anyway), then I had no choice in the matter! The start of Welcome To The Jungle is still my all time fave riff to play! I know some men like looking at naughty pics of other men’s wives. Personally I get my kicks looking at other peoples guitars!!!

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for your comment! Yeah Macau food was pretty damn brutal, nice to be back. Although I’m now still in Nottingham having been knocked out the EPO – I thought it was gonna be my tourney too, got off to a good start and ended day 1 short but built up a big stack before running big hand into bigger hand all damn day long til got close to the bubble, urgh!

The Schecter guitar arrived and it’s beautiful, I’ll try and get some pictures up in the next blog!

Gl with the poker and the guitaring,

    Liv

    Hi Liv,

Great effort in the EPO, I’m confident your gonna take down a big tourney soon, I just know it!

Yeah I’m gonna keep rockin N rollin, trying to emulate some of my hero’s – GnR, LA Guns, Ratt & when I’ve drank more then is humanly possible, some soft rock balladry that is Whitesnake! :)

I’m looking forward to seeing the pictures of the Schecter, I bet she plays like a dream?

GL Liv and may the poker gods be kind.

    Peter
