“Whew! P2N in the Books”
Saturday, November 21, 2009 - Joe Sebok
First episodes of “Poker2Nite” is in the books, and man, was it stressful. I pride myself on always forcing myself into new situations, and often ones where I have zero experience, but they can be seriously tough for a bit when you get there. We went in for filming early Tuesday morning and little did we know just how different hosting a television show was going to be from hosting our radio gigs. Huff killed it, as he always does. Stapes’ writing was locked in, again, as it always is, but I was the weak link! Tv is funny in the sense that you just have to go completely over the top when you are trying to portray emotions. You feel like a total douche as you sit there yelling out your thoughts and lines, but it comes across so much more muted when it actually hits the screen. Suffice it to say, I learned a ton and it will only get better week in and week out moving forward. I promise you that. Another feather in our tv cap is that everyone working on the show are just total beasts, so I am in such good hands. They have to be beasts though, to somehow make my ass look watchable every week. Good luck, guys!
The only real bummer about the new show is that it’s going to cost me missing a tournament here and there, which isn’t that cool. I’ll really have to play around with my schedule to see what works and how I’m going to fit everything in. I would seriously miss playing the big events if I have to totally sacrifice that. Luckily for me though, the next big one is at Bellagio and with the way they are going over there I’ll probably be able to register right up until the final table begins. Haha. They actually are playing with the schedule and are letting people register until level 8 (!) though, so I will be able to sneak in there after our taping on Tuesday, so stoked about that…
That’ the obvious news of the moment. I’m looking forward to a big TurkeyDay meal next week and hopefully just doing some serious relaxing. We basically have any we know who happens to be in Los Angeles over, so it’s always a fun time, complete with all the usual nonsense that comes along with big family meals. I think I’m on the deviled eggs this year, so time to get after it!
Hope you all have sick holidays as well and I’ll be hollering at you soooooooon…
peace,
J
