The Ultimate Work In Progress

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - ProductMan

UltimateBet has been dominating the poker scene for over a decade.  When we first started dealing digital cards, the internet was a vastly different place.  It was all about 56K modems, Windows 98, and something called a Pentium.  Since then the internet has been moving at light speed.  Could you have imagined twitter, youtube, facebook,  podcasts, and blogs back in those days?  The fact is things are always evolving, especially in the world of technology.  Perhaps the only thing that’s stayed the same is that we still have cards at our core.

We’ve added tons of great features over the years like avatars that let you add an extra dimension to your poker personality.   Our hand history improvements let you relive your glory and learn from your mistakes.  We brought you blackjack 3 years ago and don’t forget our unbelievable 7 Deuce and Horse tables.  We’re proud of our new table schemes and popular promos like our Bad Beat Jackpot, RAI$E, and our lucrative Tournament Leaderboards.  Let’s not forget the extra tourneys and players we added through the CEREUS network a year ago.

You can expect tons of exciting changes before the year is out.  Stay tuned and let us know what you’d like to see.  You can always post your feedback into the blog.  It’s almost 2010, so you should probably get in the blogosphere, or whatever they’re calling it these days.  We love hearing from you!

Filter It!

Friday, September 18, 2009 - ProductMan

We’re well aware that Mac users think differently.  That’s why we created UB Mac a few weeks back.  It lets Mac users take advantage of UlimateBet’s awesome action, without having to abandon the stability, style, and performance of OS X.  Mac players can also embrace their free spirit by putting our filters to the test.  Our filters make it easy to find the games you’re after.   Now you can see only the games you want.  It’s the easiest way to create a poker room that’s all your own.

You can activate our filters from the lobby. Just click on the yellow “filter” tab to bring up a list of options.    You can filter by game type.  Hide or display games like Bad Beat Jackpot Tables, Ante Tables, 7 Duece Tables, Turbo and Normal Speed Tables with a quick click.

You can also filter games by the amount of players seeing the flop by percentages. Do you want to only view tables where 51% to 75% of the players at the table are seeing the flop? Now you can.

You can also filter games by the amount of players at the table. Want to only view tables where there are 4 or more players? No problem.

It is easy to filter the exact stakes you want to play instead of having to choose from more general stakes categories like high, medium or micro.

Omaha, Stud and Razz now all have their own filtering system.

You’ll also find even more filtering options for our tourneys and SnGs. You can filter by Game Type, Buy-in, Tourney type, Number of Players, Limit and several other criteria.

Bad Beat Jackpot Winner DOOSA777

Monday, April 6, 2009 - CMO

Congratulations to the Bad Beat Jackpot winner DOOSA777 who took home $161,837.59 of the $487,169.53 Bad Beat Jackpot. She hit the jackpot on Saturday April 4th at 18:20ET. Lightning really did strike twice for DOOSA777 as she recorded her second Bad Beat Jackpot win in as many months, taking her total Bad Beat Jackpot winnings to $263,794.56.

We love it when the Bad Beat Jackpot gets hit.  We celebrate taking part in helping our players make A LOT of money.  Often times we hear stories of  our Bad Beat Jackpot winners and how their winnings have allowed them to make significant and positive changes in their lives. We’ve had players who’ve been able to pay off their mortgages, pay for their children’s schooling and otherwise get out of debt.  Having a player win TWICE like DOOSA777 further shows that the Bad Beat Jackpot is very real, and that each and every player in the Cereus network truly has a shot at taking it down.  We look forward to more of your amazing stories about how the Bad Beat Jackpot has changed your lives, and wish each and every one you the best in your quest to hit  some massive pots.

The Bad Beat Family

Friday, March 13, 2009 - ProductMan

It might not be spring yet, but things are already starting to bloom in these parts. It’s no secret that UltimateBet has been full-on flourishing ever since we joined the CEREUS family only a few short months ago. We’re stoked that we’ve been able to welcome new players, offer more tournaments, and deliver massive Bad Beat Jackpots to UB players and the entire CEREUS family.

Last week one particular family from Houston, Texas got some stellar news when one of their members’ bad luck instantly turned good at a Bad Beat Jackpot table. On March 3rd, CEREUS player Z8ELDRED hit our $212,546.02 Bad Beat Jackpot and bagged $69,207.23. Our Bad Beat Jackpot tables are designed to reward losers who get defeated while holding four 8s or anything better. All it took was a King-high Straight Flush to beat Z8ELDRED’s Jack-high Straight Flush.

Everyone can obviously use an immediate influx of cash. With a baby on the way, Z8ELDRED’s wallet isn’t the only thing growing. If you believe the papers, you never really know what’s going to happen next on the economic front or otherwise, and you don’t need to be the “octomom “to comprehend the joy and expenses that babies can bring.

What’s even better is that this wasn’t even Z8ELDRED’s first massive win. Less than three months ago, on December 28, 2008, the software engineer from Houston, Texas earned $44,600 after finishing first in another CEREUS Texas Hold’em tournament. Lady luck can strike whenever she feels like it and apparently more than once.

Remember, our jackpot is always ballooning and our Bad Beat Jackpot tables are only a few clicks away. Just load your UB software and visit the lobby. Be on the lookout for our Texas Hold’Em tables listed in red text with the word “Jackpot” or “Turbo JP” written in brackets after the table name.

You can discover all the details and learn how easy it is to qualify at the following link:

Don’t forget that we always like hearing your Bad Beat tales. Feel free to post your experiences directly into the comments section of the blog. If you really play your cards “wrong,” you might find yourself featured in a Bad Beat blog of your own.

Bad Beat Jackpot Story – QUANTOM47

Tuesday, February 10, 2009 - ProductMan

The numbers don’t lie. Our Bad Beat Jackpots are gigantic. We’ve already paid out $32 million in cold hard cash since 2007, when what is now the CEREUS Poker Network first turned the tables in your favor! That’s over 15,000 players who have been handsomely rewarded thanks to our mind-blowing promotion. That’s a lot of stories worth telling.

Perhaps you’ve heard this one: Last month QUANTOM47, a 19-year old Canadian kid from a town you’ve probably never heard of, signed up for an UltimateBet account. Nine days later he put Alliston, Ontario on the map when his Quad Queens were quickly quelled by RUSTY_1’s Royal Flush at one of our Bad Beat Jackpot tables. QUANTOM47 snagged $173,693.20 for his loss, RUSTY_1 earned $86,796.30, and 373 other players, who were either seated at the table or at a Bad Beat Jackpot table with the same stakes, split an additional $86,796.60. That’s definitely newsworthy and probably the start of a brilliant poker career, but I’m more curious to see what this kid is going to do with his winnings. This will surely change his life, although we should wait until the ink on his check dries before hounding him.

Every battle-weary poker player has a Bad Beat story tell, but the ones that unfold at our Bad Beat Jackpot tables aren’t tearjerkers, unless you like crying out of jealousy. Whether you suffered a bad beat, won a hand at our bad beat tables, or were seated at a qualifying table, you surely have a story worth sharing. Recount your stories to the world by posting them right into the blog. We want to hear about your experiences at our Bad Beat Jackpot tables. Let us know about your big win and how it changed your game and your life. Brag away and let us bask in your glory!

If you haven’t taken your seat at our tables yet, you can find more information about our Bad Beat Jackpot promotion at:

Get Beaten Badly

Friday, February 6, 2009 - ProductMan

Thanks to the rise of CEREUS our Bad Beat Jackpots are bigger than ever. Who can resist the prospect of everyone winning, especially the loser? Log on and watch the riches roll when you suffer a Bad Beat, by losing a hand holding four eights (8888) or better.

Naturally, there’s been some confusion about exactly how The Ultimate Bad Beat Jackpot is doled out, but the payout structure is now easier to understand.

When the Bad Beat Jackpot gets hit:

* 25% rolls over to the next Bad Beat Jackpot
* 10% goes to the house

* Of the remaining 65%:

* 50% goes to the Bad Beat victim
* 25% goes to the winner of the hand
* $1000 goes to every other player at the Bad Beat table
* The rest is divided among everyone playing the same game type and stakes when the Bad Beat takes place, provided they meet our qualification requirements.

You can see complete terms and conditions, including details on how to qualify, at the following link:

As good as being beaten

Wednesday, February 4, 2009 - Maggie

If you’re looking for three words that cause controversy, you may want to stutter “Bad Beat Jackpot”. Believe me, there is no other promotion as controversial as this one. From my own experience, whenever that awesome pop-up has hit my screen announcing a new winner, the phones have gone off the hook. Suddenly, all players ask why they did not receive a share of the Bad Beat Jackpot… It’s total chaos.

Well, we really want to simplify things for you. Currently, there are too many requirements that need to be fulfilled in order for a player to receive a share of the Bad Beat Jackpot. We definitely want to get rid of some of them ’cause we hate to disappoint you when we explain why you did not qualify for some cash. That’s why we are turning the table: now, you only need to have actively played in one hand which collected Jackpot rake in order to get your share! You read correctly: if you are playing a hand and you have contributed to the Jackpot, you will get your part! (provided you qualify based on the requirements) For the full rundown on how the Bad Beat Jackpot works, the rules, requirements, terms and conditions, follow this link!

So, we’re making it even easier for you to take advantage of this great promotion that has awarded more than $30 million! At Ultimate Bet we care about you and everything we do is intended to make you happy. We really hope this decision will.

Now, all you need to do is jump to a table and check why getting beat has never felt any better.

256,694 Reasons to go Shopping

Tuesday, December 2, 2008 - smokin_aces

Last week, SQUARE ROOT hit the first Bad Beat Jackpot since the launch of Cereus. Any win in Poker is worth celebrating, but winning a $256,694.01 Jackpot by losing a hand is a monumental event.  Let’s have some fun and look at some ridiculous cars within SQUARE ROOT’s new car allowance.

2009 Lamborghini Gallardo – $255, 000

2007 Bentley Arnage T – $257, 765

2008 Porsche 911 GT2 Coupe – $244, 995

2006 Ferrari F430 Spider – $256, 750

2007 Rolls Royce Phantom – $259, 900

2005 Maybach 62 – $249, 995

Sixteen 2009 Toyota Corollas – 16 x $16,000

If you bought any of the above cars (or all 16 Corollas), you would also gain the distinction of having just purchased a more expensive car than the last one George Lucas picked up.  A noted car enthusiast, Lucas recently dropped $206, 000 on a Mosler MT900S.

It should be noted that George Lucas didn’t get just any Mosler. He got the first one ever.  Even still, a couple of the above cars would give Mr Star Wars a run for his money any day of the week.

SQUARE ROOT, if you’re reading this, which one of these cars would YOU buy with your new found Bad Beat Jackpot riches?

The Bad Beat Jackpot is Cereus

Wednesday, November 26, 2008 - smokin_aces

Yesterday at approximately the same time of day I commented on the Bad Bad Jackpot.  At that point it was at $636,006.02.  Just one day later it has grown to within a Nissan Altima of 3 QUARTERS OF A MILLION DOLLARS!  It sits currently at $714,352.52.  Quite obviously the Bad Beat Jackpot is growing just shy of $100,000 per day.  The newly launched Cereus network greatly expanded the player base, instantly increasing the speed and magnitude of the Bad Beat Jackpot. Someone is going to own an island soon.  Keep your eye on the prize, because this one is rapidly changing!

One lucky table is going to inevitably hit that BBJ in the next little while. Let’s invite them here to let us know how it changed their lives!

See you at the tables!
