The Ultimate Work In Progress

Tuesday, November 17, 2009 - ProductMan

UltimateBet has been dominating the poker scene for over a decade.  When we first started dealing digital cards, the internet was a vastly different place.  It was all about 56K modems, Windows 98, and something called a Pentium.  Since then the internet has been moving at light speed.  Could you have imagined twitter, youtube, facebook,  podcasts, and blogs back in those days?  The fact is things are always evolving, especially in the world of technology.  Perhaps the only thing that’s stayed the same is that we still have cards at our core.

We’ve added tons of great features over the years like avatars that let you add an extra dimension to your poker personality.   Our hand history improvements let you relive your glory and learn from your mistakes.  We brought you blackjack 3 years ago and don’t forget our unbelievable 7 Deuce and Horse tables.  We’re proud of our new table schemes and popular promos like our Bad Beat Jackpot, RAI$E, and our lucrative Tournament Leaderboards.  Let’s not forget the extra tourneys and players we added through the CEREUS network a year ago.

You can expect tons of exciting changes before the year is out.  Stay tuned and let us know what you’d like to see.  You can always post your feedback into the blog.  It’s almost 2010, so you should probably get in the blogosphere, or whatever they’re calling it these days.  We love hearing from you!

Countdown to Aruba

Friday, September 11, 2009 - ProductMan

I feel like writing an obituary for the summer that never was, but why dwell on the past, especially when talking about the weather. Even if it is still technically summer, autumn is where the action is, especially with no shortage of major happenings at UltimateBet.  Do you realize that we’re only three weeks from the 2009 Aruba Poker Classic?

If you want to win your way to paradise, then you should probably get on that right now.  It isn’t too late to win your $8,500 Aruba prize package, unless you are reading this from the archives.  Aruba is always mind-blowing, but this is going to be the kind of party that redefines the word massive.  Play in what is easily the best poker tournament on the tour while you party under the sun with tons of pros.

We’re always treating you like a pro at UltimateBet.  We’ve made some changes to RAI$E, our industry-leading loyalty program, and players will now earn up to 31% on their cash.  You’ll now be awarded UltimatePoints based on your level of activity on the site, which will be fairer to our players.

Even if you haven’t made a deposit, you can now earn UltimatePoints. If you’ve earned cash through promotions or freerolls, you will now accumulate UltimatePoints when playing in our real money games.

Feel free to post your Aruba fantasies into the blog, but you should probably keep it respectable.

Wednesday, August 12, 2009 - Mia

Well you might just get those two wishes granted in the next Scott Ian’s Home Game. Can you believe that the some of the VIP Hosts will be lucky enough to get in touch with some of these rock starts so we can get them ready for the event?

Unfortunately we don’t get to play with them, but you guys can. We have a special VIP only event that will play on August 19th at 16:00 ET that will get one of you to the Home game. No need to worry, we will email you soon with all the details on how to get in it.

For those of you that like that rush of the chase, we have daily satellites as well. But if you really like to go straight to the point for a mere 10,000 Ultimate Points you will participate for 10 seats to the Home Game.

So load your playlists with rock’s greatest hits and get ready to actually play with these rock legends:

Scott Ian – Anthrax
Kirk Hammett – Rock Legend
Jerry Cantrell – Alice in Chains
Vinnie Paul – Pantera
Greg Tribbett – Mudvayne
Remember this is a one in a life time opportunity and that  not many people can brag about. Imagine yourself the day after the event when one of your buddies asks: “So, what did you do yesterday?”
Just imagine saying: “Well I played a poker tourney, knocked out a bunch of rock stars and poker pros and became friends with them!”

And don’t you worry; we have the hand history to prove it!

On the cover of the magazine

Wednesday, July 8, 2009 - Mia

You know here at UB we are all about our players and having them show off their skills anytime we can. That is why we have these promos like the UB 500 Race! Because even though we are a tight community we know how competitive you guys are. And on that note, let me tell you it was not all about the great cash prize that we gave out, we also had a really special deal for the top places of the promo.

About one or two weeks before the race finished we dropped the bomb on the top 10 players that had been at those positions for the longest: if they were to place on the top 3 places, we would have a cover and spread for them at Online Poker Pro Magazine!

This was really a huge deal and all of them were very much exited. So the last day of the race all of us were constantly checking on the culmination of this long event. For two months players had fought their way to the top and it can be nerve breaking having to maintain a steady game play for such a long period of time. The fight was on and it was amusing to see how “DURZAAAA” passed the top two players at the last minutes of play. And such is poker, on minute you are on the top spot and the next you might not. With a blink of an eye “DURZAAAA” took the victory home and will be featured alongside with “SOUTHCJAY7” and “VOSS1313” as the winners of this great event!

So you should be ready, because at anytime we can contact you asking for a brief statement on a promo like the Bad Beat Jackpot or the UB Race or ask for your picture to post it on our lobby or on a magazine. Have your best pictures ready and let you inspiration flow because we want to show your talents off! And of course, we also invite you to keep an eye open and check to see when these great players are featured on Online Poker Pro Magazine

Halfway through race cards and things are going good!

Saturday, May 23, 2009 - Z06FANATIC

So we recently passed the half way marker during this race cards promotion and things are going well. I’ve been on a major heater over the past month+, giving me about 15k+ in profits from playing since the race cards began. I’ve been working hard and slowly been moving up the ladder – hopefully I can make top 5 when all is said and done, but that is going to require a lot of work. One thing that definitely helped me with this race card was pacing myself – a lot of players who were higher up on the race have since burned out – some played higher buy in games thinking they were winners and reality caught up quick, while others burnt themselves out early on. Pacing is so important in a 2 month race – this game can be mentally draining and turning out 70 hour weeks will take you down quick. I’ll post again when the race comes to an end hopefully with my name near the top!

Z06Fanatic’s Race Cards Poker Blog

Saturday, April 18, 2009 - Z06FANATIC

So the 4th installment of race cards has came around and entails a 2 month long race rather than the standard month long race. I always look forward to these races as the bonus money is amazing and it really pushes me mentally to go beyond what I have done in the past. It’s going to be crazy racing for 2 months – usually in the one month race after 3 weeks you’re dying for it to end – this time after 4 weeks when you’d be able to relax we’re only going to be half way there.

We shall see who has the mentality to keep going despite the cards not going their way and the grueling hours of sitting in front of the computer. My strategy is to put in the hours but not overdue it – this isn’t a sprint it’s a marathon, so I don’t want to come out of the gate too fast and burn out. Pacing yourself is definitely key to getting top 3 in these things. Anyways I’m off to a good start and looking forward to what the next couple of weeks bring me – good luck to everyone and may the best win

Dr. Host

Wednesday, March 4, 2009 - Mia

This week we have another VIP Host under the microscope: Mark!

Mark, as many of you may not know, is a fairly new addition to the VIP Host Team. It seems like he started just yesterday but he has shown to be one of the best assets of our crew.

Since day one Mark has shown a motivated and active spirit. While most of us when we became VIP Hosts tried to stay away from the phones until we gain a bit more of experience, Mark jumped head first and took a perfect dive. That attitude gained him a place next to some of the most respected hosts working in the Customer Relationships team.

Mark is always happy and willing to help and I take advantage of that to bug him all the time with extra tasks! Since I work during the night I have him call all my Auction customers from which I need info. This happy and relaxed attitude makes Mark one of my favorite hosts around, ‘cause you know you can count on him to carry on with a project.

On a more personal note, you might not know that Mark is studying medicine, so hopefully we’ll have a good doctor soon to take care of us! Cristina says he has a great smile, so even though he is a bit shy at first, he can sweep you off your feet with his sweet smile! And as a shallow detail, Mark always wears white sneakers and he seems to have a fixation about them!

Well, we can add one more VIP Host to the list! You know I’m all ears so let me know any questions you might have about your favorite hosts or who the next one under the microscope should be.

Hosting a poker night?

Friday, February 27, 2009 - Sydney

Well, well, I am sure you all have read about how we at VIP have our own little parties and poker games but I was wondering, how are your poker nights like?
Over here we try our best at hosting our online VIP players but as we all know online and real life are two very different scenarios. Usually when I attend a so called “poker night” at a friend’s house or the very own we hold between us VIP hosts, we have a variety of drinks, food not so much (just the usual chip snack) and music cannot be set aside. On other occasions there are just beers and a countless amount of food.

In regards to what happens at the poker table, between friends there’s always laughs and good times. You always have the poker “badass” (or the bounty as I like to call them), you know you need to try and take him/her out as fast as possible otherwise they will be quite hard to overcome further on. Then you have the “joker” that one person you just don’t know what to expect and since you’re not very accustomed to their game play they end up being quite an exciting rival and last but not least you have the “troublemaker” those that are not really into the game and play some crazy hands and end up confusing the entire table, not only that, but against all odds they seem to win and increase their chip stack (of course in the end odds even out and finally they lose).

When the night is over, as the host you end up with the satisfaction of watching those you know had a good time and enjoy themselves between drinks, friends and poker. This I believe parallels the experience of being a VIP host for Ultimate Bet, although we do not get the chance to see all of you face to face (or play poker), our goal and what we strive for is to have our players happy, comfortable and to enjoy the poker experience to their fullest. This is why we are available 24/7 and can be reached via phone line, chat or e-mail to help you out with anything you need.
One last thing! Good luck to all of you who are trying out our new Steps tourneys, if you have any feedback we’re all ears!

Fine-tuning on VIP

Wednesday, February 18, 2009 - Victor

One of the most interesting things about my job is having the time to hear you and to be in tune with you. Here at VIP, there’s nothing more rewarding than being your trustful friend.

I play the bass guitar on my spare time; I’ve been doing this for over 10 years and the discipline that I have achieved by being a musician gives me the chance to compare it with the VIP Hosting services that we provide.

As you all may know, music is an art expression whose medium is sound organized in time. When associating it with the VIP Hosting Services it divides in 4 different basic sections:

- Pitch: This gives us the melody and harmony in which we provide our assistance to you.

- Rhythm: This basically determines the speed and articulation in which we act for you.

- Dynamics: This gives the intensity on how we handle your interests.

- Timbre: Our tone of service, always willing to listen to you.

We are the VIP Band here, creating your music everyday to provide you with comfort and friendship; we definitely want you to enjoy it as much as we do.

Jimi Hendrix once said:

“Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music”

And that’s it; our compromise with you will always be based on principles of honesty and high standards of service. We are always open to create good tunes with you!!!

The short stack fury

Wednesday, February 11, 2009 - Vincent

As you guys may already know there have been lots of changes recently, not only we have improved some of our Promotions, tournaments and many other things at Ultimate Bet, but on the VIP Team we are having changes as well, thankfully we are going to have a new generation of VIP Hosts, that will enforce our services even more.

One important thing that also enforces our team union are our nice gatherings. Here at the VIP Team, we have been gathering several times to throw some VIP parties and of course, a party is not a party unless you have a least a small Poker Tourney! YEAH!

Anyways, the thing is that we usually have a couple of drinks, lots of food, sometimes Guitar Hero or Rock Band, but recently, we have like more poker tournaments played than usual, I do not know what is the main reason of this but it has become an important “to do thing” when we throw a party.

Over the last games we have had, AD has finished on 1st place on almost all of them, he is like so lucky and whenever we short stacked him, he starts (like all of a sudden) enduring a lot and even though we all try to beat him up whenever he goes all in with his small stack in order to not allowing him to win another Tournament (hehe), he always recovers and start beating us out one by one until he ends again on first place.

Whenever he came to the office at the next day, I always bother him and start saying that he was so lucky and that hopefully it lucky streak will not last for too long.. lol.. But of course I am just joking and I guess I am a bit jealous of seeing him winning all the Tourneys that I do not admit that he has been playing really good and taking the right decisions every time he invested money on the pots on our last few games..  LUCK LUCK.. Haha.. (Yeah I need to win one of those tourneys one of these days)

I guess that the fact that poker gives us all these many feelings at the same time, then it is one of the main reasons why this game is so fun and exciting at the same time. I really hope all of you here at Ultimate Bet enjoy and have so much fun as we do when playing poker.

Bye for now
