Security is a safe bet at UltimateBet. We’re constantly making improvements to stay way ahead of the curve. We’ve just added an optional layer of security that will keep unauthorized users out of your account. It’s called the SecureID PIN and it works a lot like the PIN you use with your debit or check card.
If you setup this feature, you’ll be required to enter your new SecureID PIN when you login to your UltimateBet account. After entering your username and password, a second authorization window will request your SecureID PIN.
If your account is ever inactive for more than 30 minutes you’ll need to re-enter your SecureID PIN, but not your username and password.
If you already have a UB account, you can set up the SecureID PIN feature from the game client. Just choose “Update Profile” from the “My Account” menu and then click on the SecureID PIN link.

You can always disable the SecureID PIN from the cashier. Select “Update Profile” from the “My Account” menu and then click on the SecureID PIN link.
In order to further foil unauthorized users, you won’t be able to request a new SecureID PIN on your own. You’ll need to contact UB Security and verify your identity before they’ll send a new randomly generated SecureID PIN.

When there’s money on the line, the truth matters more than ever. That’s why we might ask you to verify your identity. When we know who sits at our tables, our poker room becomes more respectable, legitimate, and secure. Both our Operating License Agreement and Payment Processor Agreements legally require us to ask players for documentation. Having this info lets us know that players are who they claim to be, even when they hide behind a computer screen thousands of miles away. It also lets us protect our financial transactions.
We do realize that you might be frustrated with having to send us documentation, but please realize that you aren’t being singled out. Many people have misgivings about sending their personal information to third parties, which is why we never request sensitive information. When you send us copies of your government ID, bills, or other documents, we always advise you to black out your Social Security Number and CV2 Code Number (from the copy of the back side of your credit card) for your own safety. All items will remain strictly confidential.
If you ever have any questions or difficulties providing this information, our security team is always available to help you 24/7. We want to make this process as smooth as possible so that you can take your seat at our tables without interruption.

April Fool’s Day isn’t what it used to be. I’m not sure if I’m just more paranoid as a full-blown adult or if potential pranksters have simply scaled back their craft in these lean economic times, but this year passed entirely without incident. I probably wouldn’t have fallen for the once-classic plastic wrap on the toilet seat fiasco, although crazy glue shenanigans still get me every time. Even though there’s another 363 until the next practical joker’s paradise strikes, it is always a good call to stand on guard against threats and hoaxes, especially online.
At UltimateBet, we never bluff when it comes to safety and security.
Whether you have thousands of dollars in your account or a few small cents, your security is our top priority. It is always worth having to deal with safeguards when there is money at stake.
Unscrupulous characters can’t compete with what we have in store. Our 256-bit encryption algorithm is designed to foil hackers and keep your info safe from harm. You can rely on the same level of protection that you’d find when using online banking at the world’s leading financial institutions.
We always keep your personal information strictly confidential.
All your details always stay under wraps thanks to our highly secure database and stringent privacy policy.
From banking and data security to gaming security, we’ve got you completely covered, but we aren’t about to get smug. Our Security Team constantly reviews our safety measures and new developments are already in the works. You can watch this space for news about our new enhanced security features, which we will be rolling out over the coming months.
As always, we welcome your feedback. Post your feedback and thoughts about security right into the blog. Good security is truly a team effort and we want you to take part.

To maintain a high level of security, UB reserves the right to conduct a security review at any time to validate your identity, verify your financial transactions, and further document your consent to this Agreement. To facilitate these security checks, you agree to provide such identification or other information or documentation.
All we need is to confirm your personal information and match this data with the information that you have in your Ultimate Bet profile. This is a standard procedure that every customer needs to fulfill and for that reason we posted this requirement on our main site:
http://www.ultimatebet.com/user-agreement
You can send them via fax to 1.866.306.3384, or you may scan the documents and send them as an email attachment to Security@UltimateBet.com.
Please remember to include your name, player nickname, and the email address registered in your Ultimate Bet user profile.
To take a screenshot, press the “PrtScr” (print screen) key on your keyboard. Pressing this key will take a picture of the image that currently appears on your screen. When you press the “PrtScr” key watch your mouse cursor. If it blinks, then the capture worked correctly.
To save your captured image load “MS Paint” and paste the screenshot. To open “MS Paint” click on “Start” and then “Run.” Type “mspaint” and click “Ok.” You can also find MS Paint under Start>Programs>Accessories>Paint.
Once you open MS Paint, select “Edit” from the top menu bar, and click on “Paste.” You will see your screenshot appear in the MS Paint window. Using format JPEG (.JPG,.JPEG,.JPE,.JFIF) or GIF (*.GIF) save the image to your desktop, so that you can easily locate it, and then attach it to your email reply.
Important note when emailing the scanned images: Please make sure that the total size of the files being sent do not exceed 1 mb, or else, we will not be able to receive this email from you.
We recommend that each individual scan does not exceed 180 kb.

On the eve of Valentine’s Day, I’m going to declare my love for robots. Maybe love isn’t the right word, but it is more than a casual fascination. From cartoon robots that are engineered to bend and befriend to shape shifting cyborgs that can travel through time and walk through walls, I can’t resist robot charm. I’ll even settle for that robotic vacuum cleaner that’s all the rage these days. I think robots remind me that the future has arrived.
But all robots aren’t created equal. I’m certainly not a fan of robocall, the annoying and justifiably controversial telemarketing robot that is seemingly programmed to interrupt my dinner. Even more troubling are those automated computer poker players known as BOTS.
BOTS are designed to compete against human poker players either as legitimate opponents or as a form of cheating. Unlike the game of chess, where no information is concealed from players or observers, poker is a game of imperfect information. In poker some cards are concealed, making it impossible for a computer to figure out the exact state the game is in.
If you browse popular poker forums, you’ll find no shortage of opinions on BOTS. Whether you love them or hate them, their use is on the rise. Poker sites are constantly improving their detection techniques to stamp out BOTS, but they are just like mosquitoes. You may zap a few of them, but there are always more waiting around the corner.
At Ultimatebet we have no patience for BOTS and consider their use cheating. If you can’t use them in a live environment game, using them online is cheating, pure and simple. If you are playing against a human, you should have an equal opportunity to gain the same information. We also strive to foster a sense of community, where live players can chat and interact naturally.
If you are caught using BOTS on the Cereus Network, you will face the consequences of permanent account closure and confiscation of funds. You have been warned.

Security tip for this week:
Why do you need a password?
Passwords are a common form of authentication and are often the only barrier between a user and your personal information. There are several programs others can use to help guess or “crack” passwords, but by choosing good passwords and keeping them confidential, you can make it more difficult for an unauthorized person to access your information.
How do you choose a good password?
Here is a review of tactics to use when choosing a password:
Don’t use passwords that are based on personal information that can be easily accessed or guessed
Don’t use words that can be found in any dictionary of any language
Develop a mnemonic for remembering complex passwords
Use both lowercase and capital letters
Use a combination of letters, numbers, and special characters
Use different passwords on different systems
Don’t assume that now that you’ve developed a strong password you should use it for every system or program you log into. If an attacker does guess it, he would have access to all of your accounts. You should use these techniques to develop unique passwords for each of your accounts.
How can you protect your password?
Now that you’ve chosen a password that’s difficult to guess, you have to make sure not to leave it someplace for people to find. Writing it down and leaving it in your desk, next to your computer, or, worse, taped to your computer, is just making it easy for someone who has physical access to your office. Don’t tell anyone your passwords, and watch for attackers trying to trick you through phone calls or email messages requesting that you reveal your passwords.
If your Internet service provider (ISP) offers choices of authentication systems, look for ones that use Kerberos, challenge/response, or public key encryption rather than simple passwords. Consider challenging service providers who only use passwords to adopt more secure methods.
Also, many programs offer the option of “remembering” your password, but these programs have varying degrees of security protecting that information. Some programs, such as email clients, store the information in clear text in a file on your computer. This means that anyone with access to your computer can discover all of your passwords and can gain access to your information. For this reason, always remember to log out when you are using a public computer (at the library, an Internet cafe, or even a shared computer at your office).
There’s no guarantee that these techniques will prevent an attacker from learning your password, but they will make it more difficult.

Everything is good in moderation, or so the old adage goes. Of course, what passes for moderation is not only debatable, but varies from person to person and certainly depends on the act in question.
We’ve all heard the horror stories of the seemingly successful family man who once had it all, only to lose his house, job, wife, and kids to the perils of the bottle or the allure of lady luck. Such stories, although typically true, seem so dramatic that it is hard to take them seriously. How many times have you thought that this kind of thing could never happen to you? The average person thinks they have total control, or that they can catch themselves if they ever happen to slip up. While most people do play responsibly, there are some players who can’t control their desire to gamble.
At UltimateBet, we take responsible gaming very seriously. We do our best to work with players who develop problems. The entire UltimateBet Team is committed to responsible gaming practices and providing resources and discreet support to players who feel that their gaming is becoming a problem.
A lot of people incorrectly assume that gaming problems are all about money. Like all addictive behavior, the symptoms are diverse.
Have you ever:
* unsuccessfully attempted to reduce your gaming habits?
* spent more money on gaming than you originally intended?
* argued about gaming with family and friends?
* lost, then had the urge to return as soon as possible to win back your losses?
* felt guilty about gaming or had a severe mood swings?
* borrowed money to gamble and had difficulty with repaying?
* considered obtaining money illegally for gaming?
* sold personal belongings to obtain money for gaming?
* been absent from work or home due to gaming?
* risked or lost a relationship due to gaming?
We are dedicated to helping you take preventative measures if you’ve experienced any of these symptoms. We will gladly restrict you from our real money tables, either permanently or temporarily. Our players are also subject to deposit limits, which effectively act as a safety net.
UltimateBet also offers a wealth of responsible gaming resources, which you can access from our game client by selecting “Responsible Gaming” from the “Game Info” dropdown menu.
Please be sure to visit http://www.ultimatebet.com/responsible-gaming for tons of valuable information, including links to some of world’s best organizations. Even if you always stay calm, cool, and collected, you might know someone who needs a helping hand away from the tables.
