WSOP Step Tourneys

Tuesday, March 3, 2009 - Customer Service

Please notice that the “WSOP Steps” is one of our newest promotions. They consist of 9 player Sit n Go tournaments, which award tickets to other step tournaments.

The best part of this promotion is that when you win a ticket, it will be stored in your account, and you will be able to use it whenever you wish.

For example, if you win a ticket to a Step 4, you just need to choose any WSOP Step 4 and register using your ticket.

In order to use your ticket to register in the next event, you choose the step that you want to play, click on “Register”, this way the system will display a window where it automatically gives you the option to pay with: US Dollars, Tournament Dollars or your ticket; then choose the ticket, which is the third option, and you will be registered.

Do not forget to review the “Prize Info” tab located in the tourney lobby. In this tab, you can see which step you will be able to play if you placed within the firsts places.

Remember that you need to choose the same Step number as the ticket number you won; otherwise, the system will not give you the option to use your ticket.
Please feel free to read more about these events in the following link;

Creating a Tournament

Tuesday, February 24, 2009 - Miss C

Hey Everyone,

So, who likes to play tournament? On a personal level I am a tournament player, not a live game player. I am one of the lucky ones who have been involved in from the very concept to a super successful tournament nearly a decade on.

The planning leading up to these events would blow your mind, we are talking from branding placements to the logo on the felts. Then heaven for bid you are adding additional tables into an established casino…to gain more poker tables we had to lose other gaming tables. In a casino there are so many departments that need to be involved and in the end everyone has to be on the same page.

The property I was involved with had hotels, food and beverage, equipment, entertainment, PR, VIP service, gaming and marketing. Our weekly meetings kept us all on the same page and being the ring leader was an experience.  Every year the importance and growth of the tournament made up start our preparations earlier and earlier.  All this did was increase the momentum and your year would fly by faster than normal.

Then the day would arrive and the players would start wondering in. The familiar faces you come by, just at tournament times and the Pros who exude their presence and the new kids on the block standing in awe contimplating asking for an autograph. The room would be in a state of excitement and edginess. The big games start appearing on the interest lists and the railbirds curse the fact we put the big games at the back of the room with no rail in sight.

It ends up being an amazing fortnight and it goes by in a blink. It is such an amazing feeling when your body kicks into automatic pilot and you run on pure adrenaline.  There are parties, amazing final tables, bad beats galore, lots of dinners and drinks, but everyone is having a ball. Having an event that brings people from all over the world…old friends, new friends all here for the same thing.

Tournaments are the best time of the year for me when it all comes to an end…I curl up in a ball and sleep for 2 weeks and try to drink coffee again without getting heart palpitations. I say, “Bring on the next 1″ I love it.

Cheers,

Miss c

Gifts for the cleaning lady and poker for a cause

Friday, December 19, 2008 - UB Marketing

Today the UB marketing office kicks-off our first installment of the secret santa gifts. I get to gift to one of the cleaning staff, and for her first gift I was considering giving her a limited edition Poker Brat UB Hockey Jersey. Then I realized she’s probably never seen a hockey match – does it matter? – and she may not know who the poker brat is – is this possible?. Oh, and I probably shouldn’t gift away company merchandise. So, her first gift is a cactus plant for her house and a white chocolate.

You probably don’t feel like sending a gift for the UB-marketing-office-cleaning-lady, but maybe you’re in a holiday spirit. Well, tomorrow (DEC 20th) we can all play poker and feel good about it, just like any other day but we’ll be giving to a cause.

Annie Duke (and possibly Don Cheadle, though not confirmed) will be hosting an online tournament to raise funds for AUFA and the children of DARFUR. It starts at 7:30 and has a $2+0 buyin – yes, that’s $0 fee – with a donated prize pool of cool gear: XBOX 360 Elite system, Apple iPod Touch 32GB, Sony Handycam Camcorder, Nintendo DS, $200k GTD entry, Sony 8′ Portable DVD, and on and on and on.

But, what else can we do to feel good at the tables? Winning the $200K on Sunday probably feels good. Hitting blackjack on your first hand feels good. How about securing a seat to a ONE MILLION DOLLAR Championship event? We’re about to announce a 100-seat guaranteed tourney that’ll take place a week from tomorrow, on December 27th at 17:30 ET. Earn your entry to the championship in 2008 and play in 2009. That would make me feel good.

I wonder if the cleaning lady knows we have a ONE MILLION DOLLAR event in January. What would she say if I told her? What would she say if I told her we have THREE million dollar events in January? Would she think less of my cactus and white chocolate gift?
