Six days and counting. Every day we get closer, I get more and more excited. A few nights ago UltimateBet gave away a free Aruba package to one of my Rounders Radio listeners. Last weekend I was in Vegas teaching at the http://www.wsopacademy.com/ with Mark Seif, Paul Wasicka and Joe Navarro. I love to teach along side of these instructors. I get to learn so much at each Academy and it’s so good for my game. Don’t tell these guys but I would do it for free. A few days later we had our annual poker bash at my bar here in Madison. It was a blast. I just took a week off from poker, after a few weeks of running bad. But know I am back at it, I really like to take breaks from poker a couple times a year especially around spring . Getting outside golfing, fishing, softball or relaxing with friends I wish I would do it more often. But it is so hard to get on my computer and not log on to UB, I just love to play. But when your running bad taking a break is a must.
On May 15-16 SusieQ and her E-crew come up from Chicago, Atlanta , Arizona ,Michigan poker players from all over the country will be coming to to hang out at my bar “Players Sports Bar”in Madison Wi. We are running tourneys Friday night and Saturday this is a must attend if your in the Madison area. Please contact me if you would like to come, space is limited but ALL UB players are welcome .There will be a ton of poker, food and beer and a couple of surprise guest are scheduled to show.
I have been having a blast doing a local radio show with the great Wiscomurray the last 3 weeks.It is call” ManUp with Mark and Mike” it is on every Saturday afternoon at 2pm cnt.It sick show about everything guys like poker, girls ,food and really about the lifestyle of being a professional poker player .If you would like to listen to the show go to our web page click on listen now or pod cast one of our past shows.We have had a lot of cool guest, but none as good as last week when we had Annie on, talking about that bitch Joan Rivers and Celebrity Apprentice. Well hello from the Pro Corner.
Well what a week it has been. I think I have a few new grey hairs but all in all a good week!
Well UBOC ended and what a great turnout we had. The pros all had a blast playing in the tournaments – and probably enjoyed it so much more not having a bounty on their heads! I think the UBOC poker leagues really created some friendly competition between the pros and all were gunning for the win! Great job all around. When will the next UBOC get here?
Well it’s official – NBC announced Annie Duke as a contestant on Celebrity Apprentice 2 airing on March 1st. I wonder how the Donald will fair against the feisty and brilliant Annie Duke. Will Annie hear the words “you’re fired” for the first time in her life? Check out NBC on March 1st and follow the excitement. I’m pretty certain there will be fireworks!
Well how about UB’s own Michael Binger. In the land down under winning a final table! He went deep into the main event at the Aussie Millions and then went on to capture the title in event 12. In a marathon final table he came back from being the short stack to take it down. He takes home AU$123,840 and the coveted Aussie Millions Gold Ring. Congrats Michael!!

This last Ultimate Poker Show on Rounders Radio we were lucky enough to have the one and only Mike Matusow as our guest. This is without a doubt the best show we have had so far. I love Mike and how he is so honest about himself and the troubles and successes he has had. Not only that, I truly believe he has one of the greatest poker minds out there. Mike is his own worst enemy and he knows it. It’s amazing what he can accomplish when focused and determined. I really took to heart what he said about playing for the top 3. You will hear most players say, “I play for the win”, which is in fact a good mentality to have, but what Mike said and the way he explained it was so good. It’s very clear you should be playing for top 3, and than playing to win.
How many people out there can feel comfortable telling you how much they have lost sports betting, or blown on drugs, and not feel like you will think less of them. Maybe it’s not that he thinks they wont, he might just not care, but either way I love Mike and his brutal honesty. Everyone has skeletons in their closet and hearing Mike let his out is refreshing. It’s good to know when times are rough, they are rough for others. I’m not saying take pleasure in other people’s misfortune, I’m saying when you mess up, it happens, and move on.
